Crowborough Athletic appoint goalkeeper coach Andy Irvine as new assistant manager

Thursday 09th October 2014
CROWBOROUGH ATHLETIC have appointed their new assistant manager from within.

Mark Irvine has been promoted from goalkeeping coach to fill the void left by Simon Colbran, who resigned on Tuesday night.

Sole manager Sean Muggeridge told the club’s website: “Mark has been involved with both the club and the first team since the start of the season and during that time he’s been a great help to all concerned and a good source of advice.

“He has a tremendous amount of knowledge and experience of the league we currently play in, having been involved in managerial positions at such clubs as Maidstone United and Lordswood and it would be a waste if I did not ask him to help me move this club and all its teams forward in the future.

“I look forward to working with him and I’m pleased that he has accepted the task that lies ahead as we move through this season and the seasons that lie ahead.”

Irvine added: “Firstly I’d like to thank Sean for asking me to become his assistant manager and I’m really looking forward to working with him and all the players as I’ve thoroughly enjoyed my time with the club since the moment I joined.

“I feel I have a lot to offer and can’t wait for the game this Saturday against Corinthian to come around and will do whatever I can, assisting Sean, to help the team get a positive result and help the club move up the table.

“The club have some excellent young players coming through and I think I can help Sean and the rest of the club’s management structure develop and make these players good enough to play and hold down regular first team places in the future.”

The Crows lie in thirteenth-place in the Southern Counties East Football League table, having collected four wins and seven draws from their eleven league games.

Corinthian, meanwhile, lie in ninth-place with five wins and four draws and James Collins’ side are on the back of a four wins on the spin.
