Crowborough Athletic sign striker Zac Attwood
CROWBOROUGH ATHLETIC manager Sean Muggeridge has pulled off another summer transfer coup by enticing striker Zac Attwood, 27, to the club.
Attwood started his career with Eastbourne Borough and has also played for Bognor Regis Town, Histon, Welling United, Margate, Maidstone United and Hastings United.
It was common knowledge that Attwood left Maidstone United to sign for Margate on an £800 per week contract while ex-chairman Bob Laslett bankrolled the Hartsdown Park club – but his deal at The Crows is very unlikely to be that kind of amount in the Southern Counties East Football League Premier Division next season.
“I’ve been talking to Zac for a few weeks now and I’m delighted he’s decided to join us this season,” Muggeridge told the club website.
“He’s a proven goalscorer and with all the experience he has at higher levels he will not only be an asset to the squad but to our other strikers such as Josh Biddlecombe and Sam Carrington.
“Both will be able to learn so much from him and I can’t wait to see them train and play together as we start our pre-season fixtures soon.
“I’m sure the fans will take to him as well. Many supporters at his previous clubs have made it clear they weren’t happy when he left their club and there’s no doubt he’ll be a hit with ours.”
Biddlecome was the Crows leading marksman last season having bagged 25 goals, while Carrington netted 17 as Crowborough Athletic finished in the top seven last season.
Crowborough Athletic kick-off their pre-season campaign with a trip to Crawley Down Gatwick on Saturday, 9 July (14:00).
