Cray Wanderers to play at Flamingo Park for the first time when Corinthian-Casuals visit tomorrow night
CRAY WANDERERS will be playing their first floodlit game at their new stadium at Flamingo Park tomorrow night.
Neil Smith’s side will be playing a friendly match against Corinthian-Casuals at their new stadium, with the match kicking off at 20:15.
“There will be a small piece of history for the Cray Wanderers’ first team who will play their first game on the 3G surface at Flamingo Park,” said a club statement.
There will be a £3 admission charge for the fixture and there will be a double-sided mini programme on sale for £1. The bar will be open for food and drink.
“With the Wands without a league game until 13 March, this gives a chance for the players to freshen and also begin to get in the mood ahead of more regular games from the next pre-season and also to play under lights.
“Corinthian-Casuals are no strangers to Cray Wanderers having a number of great battles during the Isthmian League years but were relegated from the Premier last season.
“If you are at a loose end on Tuesday and fancy a glimpse into the Wands future and maybe get your soon to be regular journey mapped out.”
Cray Wanderers have climbed up to 13th place in the Isthmian League Premier Division table (42 points from 32 games), while Paul Barnes’ side are second-from-bottom in the Isthmian League South Central Division table (15 points from 29 games).
The Wands return to League action when they welcome Potters Bar Town to Hayes Lane, Bromley, on Wednesday 13 March (19:45).
Cray Wanderers chairman Gary Hillman has informed landlords Bromley that their 25-year stay at Hayes Lane will be coming to an end next month, as the club will be playing at their new Chislehurst based stadium (BR7 6HL) next season.
Chloe Ashdown went down in the record books as the first player to score a goal in an official match there when Cray Wanderers' women's side beat their Oakwood counterparts 2-0 in the South East Counties Women's Football League Kent Division One West on Sunday 4 February 2024.
The venue is now staging Youth, Academy and Women's games but is not quite ready to stage games in the seventh-tier of English football.
