Chessington & Hook United appoint Andrew Ellis as their manager ahead of their SCEFL First Division adventure

CHESSINGTON & Hook United have appointed their management team ahead of their maiden Southern Counties East Football League First Division campaign.

The Surrey club are without a game on the opening day of the season on Saturday 31 July 2021 but play their first game in their new surroundings when Lydd Town make the long 164-mile round trip to Chalky Lane seven days later.

Andrew Ellis has been appointed first-team manager, going into their new adventure.

“Andrew is delighted to take on the role as the first-team manager and lead the senior section of the club,” said a club statement.

“Andrew has been involved with the club for many years in both the youth and senior sections.

“In more recent years, Andrew has taken over the reins of the football club as the chief executive.”

Gary Taylor has been appointed assistant manager.

“Gary has been at various clubs from youth to senior including managing Worcester Park for three seasons, winning the Combined Counties Division One title in 2019 and County Cup champions.  Gary is really excited to take on a fresh challenge,” said the club statement, issued five days ago.

Ben Ewing, head coach, is a UEFA B candidate who has been coaching for 11 years in youth and senior football. He also runs a coaching company that provides a coaching service to the clubs youth set-up.

“The team are all looking forward to moving the club forward and taking it into its next chapter,” added the club.
