Carroll replaces Silk as Terrors' coach

FORMER BROMLEY fans’ favourite Danny Carroll has been appointed the new first-team coach at Ryman Premier League newcomers Tooting & Mitcham United.

Carroll, who was running the Terrors youth team, replaces another former Bromley player, Andy Silk, who has joined promotion chasing Kent League side VCD Athletic as coach.

Tooting & Mitcham United manager Billy Smith believes Carroll will fit in well in his new role at Imperial Fields.

The Morden based club sealed promotion from Ryman League Division One South last season, beating Cray Wanderers in a play-off final to join champions Dover Athletic in the higher division.

Speaking to www.surreycomet.co.uk, Smith said: “He’s been running the youth team for a while now and has been really successful.

“He’s very experienced as a player so it will be a good move for the club.

“He’s also enthusiastic and has played at a higher level than we’re at, at the moment, so he will be able to help the players develop.

“He’s a promising young coach and he got our youth team playing very well last season. He’ll have a few ideas about things my assistant George Wakeling and can do to improve training, and that should be a big benefit to everyone at Tooting.”
