Burman urges fans to raise the roof

Monday 24th November 2008

DARTFORD boss Tony Burman has issued a rallying cry to the Princes Park faithful to raise the roof throughout the entire game against St Albans City tomorrow night, writes Stephen McCartney.

The Darts stalwart has urged the club’s excellent supporters to see the side through the FA Carlsberg Trophy Third Qualifying Round replay showdown.

The draw for the first round was made at Soho Square this morning and Blue Square Premier side Stevenage Borough await the winners on 13th December.

And Burman wants it to his Ryman Premier League side that travel to Broadhall Way next month, although he knows in-form St Albans City, a side that are sixth in the Blue Square South table with a record of nine wins and three draws from 17 games will be a tough nut to crack.

Considering the Hertfordshire outfit are level on points with AFC Wimbledon it will take one massive effort from Burman’s men.

St Albans City have bagged 22 points from their last eight league games so it’s not going to be easy but Burman has urged for passionate support to cause an upset following Saturday’s drab goalless draw at Clarence Park.

“Both teams have got an incentive because of the rewards that are up for grabs to get into the next round,” Burman told www.kentishfootball.co.uk on the eve of the replay.

“I’m sure both sides will be thinking first of trying to get through to the next round tomorrow night and they’ll worry about the draw Wednesday morning.”

Burman will try and keep his players focused with the job in hand.

“We’ve got a tough game tomorrow night,” emphasised Burman. “We’re playing against a team who are on top form in their division and are a good side and it will be tough tomorrow.

“But at some stage St Albans have got to lose a game.”

Burman wants the Princes Park faithful to be on top of their game as well.

He said: “The support we’ve received away from home has been fantastic this season and obviously the expectation when we play at home is very, very high, regardless of what teams we play.

“I hope the crowd tomorrow lift our team, get behind the team to help them win the game.

“It is a big night. Obviously we’re not doing as well in the league as we’d like to have done but the performances have not been as bad as what some people think.”
