Budget cuts force Daish to offload his assistant

Tuesday 02nd June 2009

EBBSFLEET UNITED boss Liam Daish has been forced to show his assistant Alan Kimble the door as his budget has been slashed for next season.

After MyFC members' vote yesterday and confirmation that Daish is to continue in his role as manager of the Blue Square Premier club, he announced that Kimble has been forced to part company with the club.

Speaking to www.ebbsfleetunited.co.uk, Daish said, "As well as the smaller playing budget, my coaching budget has also come down from last season. As such I have had to let Alan Kimble know that we can no longer afford his services as my assistant.

"I have spoken to club captain Paul McCarthy and he has agreed to become player/assistant manager for the 2009/10 season. Paul will also continue in his role coaching the youth lads. Ron Hillyard will be staying on as goalkeeping coach."

Daish added: "I would like to wish AK all the best for the future, he has been a great servant to the club and fantastic to work with. At the same time, I am looking forward to partnering with Paul McCarthy and I'm positive he'll have a lot to offer as my assistant."

Daish also paid tribute to club secretary Roly Edwards, who has stepped down from his role.

"I'd also like to thank Roly Edwards for all he's done at Ebbsfleet United. I know he'll continue to support the Fleet but his dedication, not to mention great humour, will be missed by all working at the club," added Daish.
