Bridon Ropes boss Mark Murison: We are more than capable of challenging but we have been way to inconsistent at present
BRIDON ROPES manager Mark Murison says he is searching for consistency from his side.
The Charlton-based outfit are presently in the top-eight in the Southern Counties East Football League First Division table with a playing record of three wins and a draw from their seven league outings.
Reflecting on their 4-2 defeat at Bromley-based Holmesdale last weekend, Murison said: “I am disappointed with the last game as we played well, especially in the second half, but we made some very basic errors, which led to their goals.
“Trying to come back from 3-0 down is always tough but taking any positives would be the response in the second half and how we came close to getting a point.
“However, we did not and the basic errors must stop immediately for us to achieve what we aim to do this season.”
When asked to reflect on his side’s season so far, Murison replied: “One word inconsistent!
“We are more than capable of challenging but we have been way to inconsistent at present.
“We are all working hard to rectify this as anyone who can put a consistent run of results together could take a stranglehold on the league.
“I cannot fault the players’ commitments to training, attitude and work-rate but we need to produce this when it truly matters on game days.”
Bridon Ropes have home advantage over Wick in tomorrow’s FA Buildbase Vase First Qualifying Round tie.
The Sussex side are presently in third-place in the Southern Combination First Division table – the same level as Bridon Ropes – with a playing record of five wins and a draw from their opening six league games.
Murison said: “We’re looking forward to The FA Vase game as we have had some good success in the competition over the last couple of seasons.
“Wick will be tough and are on a good run at the moment but the lads trained well mid-week and we are confident of getting a positive result.
“The FA Vase game and September are massive for us. We need to find consistency and it needs to happen now, otherwise we could see us falling behind the teams at the top.
“We have the players’ to beat anyone and it must start tomorrow.”
