Brown targets Kent League return - EXCLUSIVE

Tuesday 27th May 2008

VERSATILE player Kevin Brown, 33, is confident that he can return to full fitness following his groin operation next month - and battle his way back into the Kent League, writes Stephen McCartney.

Brown, who used to play for Kent League outfit Tunbridge Wells, played for their local Kent County League neighbours Rusthall last season, but his appearances were limited due to a Gilmore’s groin problem.

But Brown, who has recently moved from Tunbridge Wells to Rochester to live, believes he’ll be fit enough to play Kent League football again.

“I am considering playing at a higher level of football, in the Kent League,” Brown said EXCLUSIVELY to www.kentishfootball.co.uk today

“I am looking to offer my vast experience as a player and to eventually go into a coaching or advisory role,” added Brown, who coached Wells’ reserve side two years ago.

“I signed for Rusthall last season but my season was cut short by injury. I have Gilmore’s groin, which I am having an operation on in the next month.

“But after that I want to find another club.

“I am currently running, my surgeon has allowed me to, and I am looking to get back to full fitness by the end of June.”

Brown, meanwhile, believes boss Hugo Langton will bring success to Rusthall next season.

He said: “I’d just like to add that Hugo Langton has done a fantastic job and if it wasn’t for injuries, mine included, then they would have run (champions) Norton Sports close.

“I feel they will next year, but I need to push myself again and I feel I can still play Kent League football.

“I have moved to Rochester from Tunbridge Wells and that’s the reason why I’m not wanting to continue to play for Rusthall and I still feel I have something to offer the Kent League.”
