Darlington's Blackwell Meadows to stage Spennymoor Town v Bromley FA Trophy Quarter-Final Replay
BROMLEY will travel to Darlington on Wednesday night to play Spennymoor Town in their much-delayed FA Trophy Quarter-Final Replay.
Spennymoor’s pitch at The Brewery Field failed a pitch inspection at 14:30 this afternoon so The Football Association have decided to play the game 24 hours later at a neutral venue.
A statement from The FA, which was published on www.bromleyfc.tv, said: “Following an independent pitch inspection which has taken place at Brewery Field today on behalf of The FA and after taking into account submissions that have been made to The FA from both clubs, it has been decided that the match shall be played on Wednesday 14 March at Darlington FC (7:45pm).
“In the event of the match is not played on Wednesday 14 March at Darlington FC, it shall be played on Saturday 17 March at Bromley FC (3:00pm).
“The rationale for the above decision is to try and prevent causing disruption for the competition and at the same time provide a fair opportunity for the match to be played this week within a reasonable proximity of Spennymoor Town FC.
“The FA will arrange for a precautionary pitch inspection to be undertaken at Darlington FC on Tuesday 13 March at a time to be confirmed.”
Bromley were held to a goal-less draw in the original game at Hayes Lane on Saturday 24 February and the first attempt of the replay was snowed off three days later. The match at Brewery Fields passed two pitch inspections before being called off due to an unplayable pitch by the match referee 75 minutes before kick-off last Tuesday 6 March.
The winners shall play a two-legged Semi-Final against Gateshead with the Final being played against Brackley Town or Wealdstone at Wembley Stadium on 20 May.
Six of Bromley’s sponsors will provide free coach travel for Bromley fans and details can be obtained from the clubs website.
Darlington play at Blackwell Meadows, Grange Road, Darlington, DL1 5NR.
