The team are playing with real confidence and are looking forward to the business end of the season, says Bridon Ropes boss James Doherty
BRIDON ROPES manager James Doherty says his side are punching above their weight in the Southern Counties East Football League First Division.
The Charlton based club are in third-place in the table with 44 points from 20 games and are 12 points adrift of leaders Welling Town but with three games in hand.
Bridon Ropes came away from Cobdown with a 4-1 win over Greenways with Richard Jimoh’s hat-trick taking him up to 18 goals for the club this season, while Findlay Chambers also notched his first goal of the season.
“Richard’s been in superb form,” said Doherty.
“We are in a fantastic position in the league and again we are punching above our weight and competing.
“But it’s a tight league and all of the teams at the top need to play each other, which will mean a lot of changes from now until the end of the season.
“The team are playing with real confidence and are looking forward to the business end of the season.”
Doherty admits he knows nothing about Hackney Wick, the side that they host in the London Senior Trophy Quarter-Finals tomorrow.
He said: “I don’t really know too much about Hackney Wick apart from they’re at the same level as us and are in the top half of their league. They also do a lot of fantastic work within their local community.
“We have a few players out this weekend with illness but I have no complaints. I’m very lucky to have a very strong squad and should give Hackney a good game.
