Everyone associated with Bridon Ropes FC is looking forward to testing ourselves against higher opposition for the second time this season, says manager Mark Murison

BRIDON ROPES manager Mark Murison says the pressure is on Erith Town during tomorrow’s FA Vase Second Qualifying Round tie.

Murison grabbed the headlines when he came off the bench to score two goals in his side’s shock 3-1 win at Holmesdale after playing out an uninspiring 1-1 draw in Charlton on their FA Vase debut.

Erith Town go into the game as favourites because they are flying high on the back of three straight wins and sit in second-place in the Southern Counties East Football League table on 21 points from 9 games, two points adrift of leaders Hollands & Blair, with a couple of games in hand on the Gillingham based outfit.

Bridon Ropes ply their trade in the Pain & Glory Sports Kent Invicta League and are sitting in 12th place in the table having collected three wins, one draw and four defeats.

“Everyone associated with Bridon Ropes FC is looking forward to testing ourselves against higher opposition for the second time this season,” said Murison, who came out of retirement due to a crippling injury crisis to send Holmesdale crashing out in the last round.

“I feel Erith will be a tougher prospect than the last round due to the great run they are on.

“We went to watch them against Crowborough and they are an impressive side with some dangerous individuals so we will need to be at our best to get into the next round.

“It will be important to nullify their threats and aim to get a foothold in the game early.

“The pressure will be on Erith as they will be expected to win and progress to the next round, so it will be important that we do not gift them anything and make sure they have to work hard to score or get through to the next round.

“We have got some dangerous individuals in our team who will cause them lots of problems.

“Unfortunately we have not got a full squad to select from as our injury list continues to grow with some key players missing, so it will be a great opportunity for some of the lads to stake a claim for a permanent spot in the side.”
