Better news for Hamshare

Wednesday 12th April 2006

Shane Hamshare has fractured a bone in an ankle following what can only be described as an X-rated challenge at Leatherhead on Tuesday night, writes Justin Allen - www.doverathletic.com

The young midfielder, who is highly rated by the club's coaching staff and fans, was victim to a tackle that went unpunished.

Dover Athletic officials were disappointed that the referee failed to take any action for what was a very dangerous tackle.

Chairman Jim Parmenter said: "This is a big blow for us. Especially as Danny Chapman now faces a suspension as well - after he was sent off for reacting to what was an equally bad tackle.

"It goes without saying that we wish Shane a speedy recovery."

This morning it was thought that he had broken his leg but after further tests the news would appear to be a bit better - and that in fact he suffered a fracture to a bone in an ankle.
