I know a lot of people are saying Beckenham are not as good as last season – let’s wait and see in April, we will be up there, insists Beckenham Town assistant manager Billy Walton
BECKENHAM TOWN assistant manager Billy Walton says his players will improve performances during the next three weeks.
Jason Huntley’s men have failed to rediscover their performances of last season when they were sitting at the summit of the Southern Counties East Football League Premier Division table at the time of the season being abandoned due to Covid-19.
However, despite remaining unbeaten in their opening three league outings, the side are in tenth-place in the table and have come under criticism over their off-colour performances.
“We haven’t had a great start to the season but we are still undefeated with a win and two draws,” said Walton.
“But we are Beckenham Town and we are expected to win every game.
“We are getting better week-by-week and we know that we’ve got to improve – that’s a fact and we will!”
Beckenham Town welcome Bearsted to Eden Park Avenue tomorrow. Kevin Stevens’ men sit in fifteenth-place in the table with three points from as many games.
“Bearsted is always a good game, a good side, good manager and they can play so we’re looking forward to the game,” said Walton.
“I know a lot of people are saying Beckenham are not as good as last season – let’s wait and see in April, we will be up there!
“We’ve got a lot of very good players and when they click – look out!
“For me Deal away was a great result. Glebe at home was 50-50. We were poor away to Erith & Belvedere and not good enough but we never lost and are undefeated in the league.
“We now have two games a week for the next three weeks, so see where we are then. The players want to prove people wrong, let’s go and play!”
