We’re at home on our pitch and I fancy us to create quite a few more chances than what we did at Glebe, says Beckenham Town assistant Billy Walton

BECKENHAM TOWN assistant manager Billy Walton says he’s feeling confident that his side can beat Epsom & Ewell in The FA Cup Preliminary Round tomorrow.

Beckenham grinded out a 2-0 win at Glebe in Tuesday night’s local derby and go into the game sitting in third-place in the Southern Counties East Football League table with three wins out of three, a point behind leaders Chatham Town and AFC Croydon Athletic, with a game in hand.

Beckenham Town used a direct style to beat Colliers Wood United 2-0 after extra time in the previous round, after being held to a 1-1 draw at Eden Park Avenue and used a similar tactic in a boring game at Foxbury Avenue in Chislehurst in midweek.

But with Epsom & Ewell coming to play on the carpet at Eden Park Avenue, Beckenham Town are expected to play Walton’s trademark carpet football tomorrow.

Epsom & Ewell go into the game sitting in seventh-place in the Combined Counties League First Division table with six points from three games and play a level below Walton’s men.

“It will be another one, if you work hard and do the basics and work extremely hard against them, we’ll win the game because we’ve got better quality, that’s it in a nutshell,” said Walton.

“If we can win that and hopefully get some money, they’ve promised we can have a bit of it and go out for a night out, which will be a good bit of team bonding, so I’m looking forward to that and hopefully get a nice draw in the next one but let’s try to win on Saturday first.

“I’ve watched the video of them of their game, they look well organised, which teams are and they’ll be difficult to break down but we’re at home on our pitch and I fancy us to create quite a few more chances than what we did at Glebe.

“We’ve got two or three ways to play. People will have to work out what we do but we’re different at home than we are away so if they were at Glebe on Tuesday night watching, we won’t play like that at home!”

Meanwhile, Beckenham Town were drawn away to Haringey Borough in the First Round of the London Senior Cup and the winners will host Leyton Orient in the last sixteen.
