Relegation is not even on our mind at the moment, says Beckenham Town coach Jason Clews

BECKENHAM TOWN coach Jason Clews says he’s not concerned with the club’s league position.

The Eden Park Avenue outfit are second from bottom in the Southern Counties East Football League Premier Division table having claimed three wins and three draws from their 15 league outings.

Jason Huntley’s side extended their winless run to 10 games after losing 2-0 at home to Sevenoaks Town in the Macron Southern Counties East Football League Challenge Cup Second Round last night.

They entertain thirteenth-placed side Erith & Belvedere in the League on Saturday and Clews has revealed fresh blood could be coming in for the match against John Wilfort’s side.

“We need to bounce back quick and we’re hoping to add a couple of players later on in the week,” he said.

“We’ve been in touch with a few players’ so we’re hoping to add a few players so we’re hoping that will change things and liven a few things up, so we’re hoping to make a few additions by Friday.”

When asked about battling relegation, Clews replied: “No, it’s not even on our mind at the moment, no.

“On paper, I know everyone says on paper, we’ve got a good squad but it’s performances on the pitch that are not there at the moment.

“We know it’s going to come right. I think it’s just the one game. If we can create chances and get a few goals, confidence will come back.”
