Saturday 01st September 2007

Redhill boss Tommy Sampson is excited with the prospect of bringing former Maidstone United player Jason Barton to Kiln Brow, writes Stephen McCartney.

Versatile Barton, who was released by the Stones last month, meets Sampson tomorrow to sign Sussex County League forms.

“I’m meeting Jason tomorrow, we’re going to shake hands and sign the thing,” Sampson revealed EXCLUSIVELY to www.kentishfootball.co.uk, before his side were knocked out of the FA Cup by Dover Athletic today.

“He will be a great bonus to us, Jason will be a super signing for us at this level.

“What we’re trying to do is aspire to what Dover are, we’re trying to be a Ryman League South side within maybe two years, possibly a year.

“And if we can get into the Ryman League South, with our facilities here improved, I think we’ll be a good side.”

Sampson revealed that Barton had rejected offers from Kent sides Cray Wanderers and Sittingbourne.
