Ashford United boss Tony Reynolds names squad to face Charlton Athletic

Sunday 20th February 2011
ASHFORD UNITED boss Tony Reynolds has named his side to face Charlton Athletic.

The two sides meet at Ashford’s Homelands Stadium on Monday night to raise funds for Maxine Alcorn-Weller, who was diagnosed with a brain tumour.

“We are hoping to raise enough money to send Max and her family to Disneyland Paris and also to buy a decent car to enable Max to get to her treatment,” said Peter Young, when speaking to www.ashfordunited.co.uk.

Mr Young added: “Maxine has been a member of Staff at Ashford since she was 16 and also a personal friend of mine since she was 9.”

The admission charges for the charity game has been confirmed as being £6 (adults) and £3 (concessions) and kick-off is at 7:30pm.

Reynolds is using the game to cast his eye on players, ahead of the club’s return to football next season.
“I’ve picked up players from the local sides around Ashford and it’s a good chance for them to stake a claim ahead of next season,” Rambo said.

“I’ve also got a few lads from the Academy to play on the bench and it’ll be good for them too.”

The players expected to turn out on Monday night are:

Ashford: Dan Noden, Ollie Finch, Paul O’Brien, Ryan Smith, Bryan Pearce, Matt Bower, Steve Ward, Dan Morrison, Dan Burt, Lee McRobert, Liam Whiting.
Subs:  Danny Barham, Jack Orbon, Marc Bond, Buster Beaney, Ian Ross, Dale Davies, Stuart Taylor, Kieran Sanger, Gary Penfold.

Former Manchester United defender Jonathan Fortune is the stand out name in the Charlton squad.
