ASHFORD UNITED boss Danny Lye says he wants his side to be challenge in all competitions this season.

The Nuts & Bolts are sitting proudly at the top of the Southern Counties East Football League Premier Division and are still involving in The Buildbase FA Vase, Kent Reliance Senior Trophy and Macron Southern Counties East Football League Challenge Cup.

Ashford United have collected 28 points from 12 games and Lye takes his side to Crowborough Athletic tomorrow, a side in third-place on 26 points.

“We have had a few players in and out since our last defeat at Bearsted, which has improved our squad,” said Lye.

“As always you have suspensions and injuries throughout the season so strength-in-depth is important when you want to win every competition you are entered in.

“We as a club must be doing something right as the players we have signed are from the higher leagues.

“We have now been drawn in the next round of The FA Vase away to Eastbourne Town, which will be a tough place to go and get a result.

“This time last year we had already played three times in the Vase so I am looking forward to getting that competition underway.

“The boys have a massive challenge to try and improve this year in The Vase as reaching the Quarter-Finals was a real achievement last year.

“I have challenged the club to better themselves in everything we do this year, starting with finishing higher in the league to getting through to higher rounds in the cups.”
