I'm pleased to have Lea Dawson on board, says Ashford United boss Gary Alexander
ASHFORD UNITED manager Gary Alexander has made his first two summer signings.
The club have signed former Cray Wanderers captain, holding midfielder Lea Dawson and full-back Ollie Rowe arrives from Hastings United.
“After winning the battle to sign Lea Dawson, I can’t say how pleased I am when he became available,” Alexander told www.ashfordunitedfc.com.
“I wouldn’t be doing my job if I didn’t get a meeting with him. He’s a player I admire and I’m very pleased to have him on board.”
Dawson made 134 appearances for Cray Wanderers over three seasons scoring 20 goals.
Alexander added: “I’m delighted to welcome Ollie Rowe to Ashford for the coming season. He comes with a great reputation as a player and person with the sort of characteristics we want at the club. I’m sure he will go on to be a great addition.”
But goalkeeper George Kamurasi has left Ashford United for a second time, after making 101 appearances for the club and keeping 31 clean sheets.
“Due to personal reasons, George and myself have come to a mutual agreement for him to be released from the club,” explained Alexander.
“I feel it’s the right thing for both parties involved and I wish him all of the best and look forward to seeing him again when our paths cross in the future.”
Meanwhile, full-back Malachi Robinson has been released from the club. He joined Ashford United in March 2018 and made 10 appearances during his time at Homelands Stadium.
Ashford United their Bostik South campaign in the bottom four last season, having collected 38 points from their 46 games under Jason Whitmore and are expected to be challenging in the Bostik South East Division next season with Alexander at the helm.
