Ambitious OPK move into Danson's former home

Thursday 30th April 2009

VANDANEL Kent County League Division Two West minnows OPK Football Club have announced that they have secured exclusively Danson Football Club’s old ground in Crook Log, Welling for their first and reserve sides from next season and beyond, writes Stephen McCartney.

The ground was last used by Erith & Belvedere’s reserve side last season.

Chairman Simon Kidby, speaking to www.kentishfootball.co.uk, expressed his delight at securing a new long-term home for the club, with the potential to match the club’s ambitions.

"The pitch has had very little football played on it this season and looks in fantastic condition, clearly the area surrounding the pitch requires some work but we are confident this will be completed in time for the new season," he said.

Mr Kidby confirmed the League had inspected the ground and given the club the go ahead to move from its current home at the Meridian Sports Club in Charlton to Crook Log in Welling for next season.

He also confirmed that an as yet unnamed management team had accepted an offer to take control of first team affairs.

"I am close to announcing the names of the new management team and on the back of revealing our new home it will be a further statement of intent."

Mr Kidby also promised further significant announcements over the coming weeks.
