Although it will be difficult, we are going to do everything we can to make the play off's - Bird
Monday 14th February 2011
BROMLEY manager Hayden Bird has confirmed the signing of Charlie Ide – and the loan signing of Courtney Harris from Premier League outfit Fulham.
Bromley slipped to their seventh league defeat of the season when Staines Town came away from Hayes Lane with a 1-0 win at the weekend, although The Lillywhites remain in fifth place in the Blue Square Bet South table.
“I’m delighted to have signed Charlie and Courtney,” Bird told www.bromleyfc.net.
“At 22, Charlie is a striker with bags of potential. Having progressed through the ranks at Brentford, he made 46 league appearances. Having worked with Charlie at Sutton United and Carshalton Athletic, I believe he is a player that will prove a great asset to Bromley. He is a natural goal scorer, who will be a great addition to our forward line.”
Bird added: “Courtney Harris has joined us initially on a 28 day loan, but I hope he will be with us for the rest of the season. Courtney is highly rated at Craven Cottage, so much so at only 19 years of age he has already made the Europa Squad. Having progressed through the ranks at Fulham since an eight year old, he has had an excellent football education and will be another exciting addition to Bromley.
“I would also like to thank Fulham, who have been a great support this week in making this deal happen.”
Bird also believes the time has come to strengthen his Bromley squad having given the current set of players an opportunity to impress.
He said: “Having given all of the players in the squad an opportunity to prove themselves, I felt the time was right to strengthen. Although it will be difficult, we are going to do everything we can to make the play off's and I hope these moves signals our intent to the Bromley fans.
"We are currently in discussion with two or three other clubs and I am confident we will be announcing further new signings next week.”
