Actor Dyer no longer our chairman, says Boro secretary
GREENWICH BOROUGH secretary Michael Cooper says actor Danny Dyer has stepped down as chairman of the Kent League club, admitting “it hasn’t worked out,” writes Stephen McCartney.
The Harrow Meadow club, who reached the last sixteen of the FA Carlsberg Vase this season before being knocked out by Hungerford Town in a replay, are on the verge of forming a new committee.
The appointment of Dyer, 30, who was born in Canning Town, east London, caused plenty of publicity earlier in the season, but Mr Cooper wants people who are fully committed to the Eltham based club.
“Danny Dyer is no longer chairman, it was something we wanted to try but it didn’t work out,” said Mr Cooper.
“We have had a lot of trouble this year with one thing or another, which is something that should be dealt in-house.
“But I’m hopeful that we will have everything sorted out and I can confirm that Greenwich Borough are talking to five or six men in the coming weeks about a possible new committee, which will hopefully bring this club forward.
“I’m sure a lot of people are going to read this and make up their minds straight away and rubbish the whole thing, but I hope to prove them wrong in the coming weeks.”
