Ebbsfleet United get the green light to redevelop Stonebridge Road
EBBSFLEET UNITED are delighted to have been granted full planning permission for the redevelopment of the Stonebridge Road stand and outline planning approval for the other three sides of the ground following last night’s meeting at Gravesham Borough Council.
The council committee were unanimous in their decision to grant approval with no abstentions and no votes against. Some minor conditions remain and these will be attended to in various planned meetings.
DEVELOPMENT: Ebbsfleet United have launched £3.5m plans to change the face of Stonebridge Road
Now the work can begin on what will be our new Main Stand and tenders from selected contractors are due back to the club by April 21st. Following discussions with the selected builder(s), work is likely to begin some time towards the end of May.
The club should also have concluded the purchase of Stonebridge Road within the next seven days.
The Fleet will be splashing out £3.5m on the ground redevelopment to stay at Stonebridge Road, which will have an increased 6,000 capacity, in line to bring League football to the club
Fleet vice chairman Peter Varney told www.ebbsfleetunited.co.uk: “This is a major step in the future progression of this football club. I’d like to thank in particular the design team who have been fantastic and also note the help and support of the council members in the vote tonight. Also credit to Peter Price and his planning team who have worked tirelessly on the details to enable us to get to this point.”
The stadium proposal was fifth on the Council’s agenda but the chairman decided to bring it forward to the beginning due to the number of Fleet fans packing the public gallery.
Mr Varney added: “It’s another example of how enthusiastic the supporters are. “They’ve been behind us home and away and off the field too!”
The Fleet are in ninth-place in the Vanarama Conference South and welcome league leaders Boreham Wood on Saturday.
Jamie Day’s side have collected 56 points from their 36 league games and a win over Ian Allinson’s side will keep their slender hopes of reaching the play-offs alive.
The Fleet are seven points adrift of fifth-placed Whitehawk.
