Toms relishing Faversham friendly

WHITSTABLE TOWN manager Matt Toms is relishing the opportunity of taking his squad to Salters Lane to play their re-formed neighbours Faversham Town, writes Stephen McCartney.

And Toms is giving the club's highly-rated reserve side, that won the Kent League second division last season, a chance to shine in the prestigious pre-season friendly on Thursday 28th July.

"I am delighted to be taking a side to Salters Lane," Toms told the club's website.  "It will be wonderful for the supporters of both Town's to meet again after the break since Faversham dropped out of the Kent League.

"Terry Cordice, Faversham's manager is a good guy and we get on well.

"I shall be taking a "Mixed side" on the night.  Reserve team manager Simon Kay wants more games for his lads and I want to look at a few players at the same time.

"We will be taking quite a large squad with us and it will be almost the last chance to sort out a few things before the league starts proper.

"I think the chance to meet up with Terry again, test his team and give the lads a decent work out will be perfect timing for both clubs."
