Brave Ratchford back in action

Whitstable Town player-manager Marc Seager has announced his delight at the signing of 24-year-old Terry Ratchford, who until a recent illness was captain of Southern League side Dartford during 2004, reports www.whitstabletownfc.co.uk

"Terry has been out these last 18 months or so, he's had quite a bad time of it with an injury, which needed hospital treatment but he is now well and rearing to play football again," said Seager.

"Given his ability and the fact that there were at least two other clubs trying to sign him, I am delighted he has chosen to join us.

"He is now on the way back to full fitness.  He played the whole 90 minutes for the reserve side on Saturday and (reserve team manager) Simon (Kay) said he was very impressed by Terry.

"What pleases me is that he is a centre half with bags of ability, he is a big strong lad, which at first glance masks his real football skills.

"He is confident on the ball, and when he is fully fit I believe he will be a great addition to the squad and prove to be a very good signing for Whitstable Town."
