Seager appointed Oystermen's new manager

After the departure of Whitstable Town's manager Matt Toms at the end of last week, Marc Seager, originally appointed for their home game against Tunbridge Wells, has been confirmed as the new manager at the Belmont, writes Stephen McCartney.

His appointment was ratified during a committee meeting after the game against Kevin Metcalf's side, which ended in a 1-1 draw.

During the meeting, members of the committee paid tribute to outgoing manager Toms during his time at the Kentish Observer League club.

"His record compares with any previous manager in the club's history and he leaves the football club on a sound footing and we wish Matt all the best for the future," chairman Tony Rouse told www.whitstabletownfc.co.uk

Seager, who helped Deal Town win the FA Vase at Wembley Stadium in 2000, added: "I am delighted to take on the post.  Obviously I would have liked the circumstances to be different, but I must concentrate on next week's at home to Fleet Town in the FA Cup (preliminary round)."
