Whitstable ace buzzes off to Barnet

NATIONWIDE Conference leaders Barnet must have had their scouts at Kenilworth Road earlier in the month as the Bees have snapped up Louie Bristow from Go Travel Kent League club Whitstable Town, writes Stephen McCartney.

The Whitstable Town ace was part of the side that lost 8-0 to Luton Town in the Pepsi FA Youth Cup earlier in the month and made an impression on the North Londoners watching the first round tie.

Peter Budge, under eighteen manager at the Belmont, admitted he was pleased for the player and wants the remaining players to fight for their places.

He said: “I never thought that the game would have such an effect on the lads but it seems as if we are just going through the motions.

“We have lost Louie Bristow, who has gone to Barnet, which is terrific news for him.

“He goes with our best wishes.  He’s a smashing lad and I am sure he will do well.

“The gap he leaves means there is competition for places.

“I think one or two of the lads were getting a bit complacent and the challenging for the shirt will have them all on their toes.”

Meanwhile, Whitstable Town’s first team are without a game tomorrow, having lost 4-1 at Maidstone United in the first round of the FA Vase, and therefore they missed out on a trip to Kent League rivals Thamesmead Town in the second round.
