VCD Athletic sign hot shot from Swanley Furness

Two new players have joined VCD Athletic in the pre-season period.

Paul Bates has joined from Dartford, having seriously considered retiring from the game after a frustrating season at the Darts last season.

VCD Athletic manager, Martin Ford, had tried last season to sign the experienced midfielder, and is very pleased that he has secured his services for the new season.

John Maine has joined VCD from Swanley Furness. A prolific goalscorer in Division One for the past two seasons, and winner of the golden boot in both campaigns, VCD hope he can carry on with his goal scoring touch in the higher grade.

Ford had fought off several other clubs for the youngster's signature.
