Constable rejects move to Tunbridge Wells

Dunton Green based striker Andy Constable has turned down a move to Tunbridge Wells after the Culverden Stadium outfit asked Whitstable Town's manager Marc Seager permission to speak to the former Bromley and Sevenoaks Town player, writes Stephen McCartney.

Constable, enjoying his second spell at Whitstable, scored the winner in their Kent Senior Trophy win over local rivals Herne Bay last Saturday with just two minutes of extra time remaining.

"Tunbridge Wells did everything in a very professional way," Seager told www.whitstabletownfc.co.uk.  "I told their manager Martin Farnie that he was welcome to speak to Andy and that I was not interested in waiting the regulation seven days.

"I also explained this to Andy but I told him point blank that I did not want him to leave the club, and left it up to the player to decide, which I felt was the correct thing to do."

A statement issued by the club made it very clear they are delighted that Constable is staying with them.

It read: "I am sure everyone at the club would agree that Andy is held in very high regard by all at the club, that's the management, committee and just as importantly the supporters, who know Andy always gives 100% every time he pulls on the red and white shirt.

"We were not surprised that Andy had decided to stay at the club.  He has matured over the last couple of seasons and truly believe that he is still improving as a player.  He has matured both on and off the pitch and is well liked by his team-mates and staff.  We are delighted he is staying at Whitstable."
