Wells snap up Ashford pair |
Goalkeeper John Whitehouse is expected
to make his Tunbridge Wells debut on Saturday - despite playing for
Southern Leaguers Dartford earlier in pre-season, writes Stephen
McCartney. The former Erith & Belvedere, Fisher Athletic and Greenwich Borough goalkeeper was a mainstay in the Ashford Town team but has been snapped up by delighted Wells manager, Kevin Metcalf to replace the injured Matt Bromby. Bromby is still waiting to see a specialist over his knee injury, which is keeping the highly-rated former Tonbridge Angels' stopper out of action. South Londoner Whitehouse, however, makes his debut in tomorrow's Kentish Observer League opener against Hythe Town at Culverden Stadium, and joins many former Ashford team-mates at the ambitious club. "It shows how far this club is going," said a delighted Metcalf, as he revealed EXCLUSIVELY to www.kentishfootball.co.uk about signing Whitehouse and midfielder Scott McRobert from the Ryman League Division One club. "With all the players already signed up, these were the last two and we are happy with the squad," he added. And Metcalf, whose side finished one place below Hythe Town in seventh place last season, expressed his delight signing McRobert, adding: "He is another experienced player for the lads and a good addition for the club."
