Power generates interest from Gravesend

YOUNG Thamesmead Town striker Michael Power will miss tonight's pre-season friendly against Gillingham, writes Stephen McCartney.

The prolific striker, scorer of Thamesmead's goal from the penalty spot in Saturday's 1-1 draw with Bromley, will play for Conference outfit Gravesend & Northfleet in their friendly clash at Homelands against Ashford Town instead.

The Stonebridge Road outfit have had Power watched in the last three pre-season warm-ups and have been impressed with what they have seen.

The young striker, scorer of 28 goals last season, has one-year left on his contract, and has also generated interest from one-other, albeit unnamed club.

Meanwhile, Gillingham have stated they will be brining their first team squad to Bayliss Avenue tonight, with player-manager, Andy Hessenthaler, who made a name for himself in the non-league game, expected to make an appearance on the lush Bayliss Avenue playing surface.
