Thamesmead have the Power over Ashford
Promising young centre forward Michael Power, has decided at
the last minute not to complete his move from Thamesmead Town to Dr Martens
League Eastern Division side Ashford Town.
The two sides had negotiated a fee and the player had agreed
personal terms with Ashford, but after seeing them play last week and after
Thamesmead's performance against Erith & Belvedere on Saturday, Michael
believes this would be better for him in the long term to stay at the Bayliss
Avenue club.
Thamesmead Town boss Paul Blade said: "It's great news for
the club. Michael is a really nice and intelligent lad, and has a great
future in football. it's nice for me, the club and his fellow players
that he has decided to stay at the club, and it will hopefully give us that
extra push for the Kent League title this year."
Power was amongst Thamesmead's goalscorers in their 3-2 victory
over Erith & Belvedere on Saturday as they opened their pre-season
campaign with a victory. Jason Clews, who joined from Beckenham Town
last season, and Paul Springett also scored for Thamesmead.
