Thamesmead enjoy more cup success under Blade

THAMESMEAD Town added the Kent Senior Trophy to the Kent League Cup and Kent League runners-up honours they have secured in the three season's Paul Blade has been first team manager, writes Stephen McCartney.

The Bayliss Avenue outfit won the Kent Senior Trophy last weekend, beating local rivals Beckenham Town 1-0 at Whitstable Town's Belmont Road ground.

Thamesmead produced a confident performance and didn't look in any danger of losing their second final in two seasons.

The Mead dominated the entire game and Kieron Collins proved to be their match winner, heading home from close range after 25 minutes.

Keith McMahon, the club's assistant manager, told the club's website: "It's another great day for the club.  I thought our performance was excellent, especially Kieron Collins in midfield and Lee Loveridge at the back, who were both exceptional.

"What we have achieved in the last three years has been superb and today's win was a little bit special, especially if you look back to the beginning of the season with the problems we had.

"The team spirit we have here in excellent and things are looking good for next year."
