Collins decides to join Thamesmead Town

THAMESMEAD TOWN are pleased to announce the signing of central midfielder Kieron Collins, writes Stephen McCartney.

Collins, who played for Go Travel Kent League rivals Greenwich Borough last season, attracted interest from a few of rival clubs, but has opted to join the Bayliss Avenue club.

He will, however, be available for selection for Saturday's opening home league game against Lordswood.

Manager Paul Blade, looking to contend for a promotion place, said; "It's another good signing for the club.

"Kieron is a strong player that can also score goals.

"He was wanted by quite a few Kent League clubs so it's nice that he choose us in from of them."

Blade, however, revealed he has almost found a replacement for striker Michael Power, who made the switch to Ryman League Division One newcomers Cray Wanderers last week.

He revealed:  "He is nearly the final piece of the jigsaw.  I will hopefully have a centre forward by the middle of next week to replace Michael Power and then that will be it."
