Miles praises youngsters
Phil Miles, manager of Go Travel Kent League Slade Green
praised a number of the club's youngsters for their performances in their 1-0
Premier Division Cup defeat at Erith Town, writes Stephen McCartney.
Glen McTaggart scored the only goal of the game from the penalty spot for Erith
Town inside extra time, to seal a place in the last eight, where they entertain
defending cup winners Cray Wanderers.
However, the future at The Small Glen outfit looks very promising with many
youngsters breaking through into the first team squad, which was decimated
through work commitments.
Kingsley Anderson (16 years old) and Lee Morgan (19) were given their debuts and
Dave Martin (19), Mark Barton (17) and James Clark (19) were all given different
roles within the side.
Miles praised his youngsters, and said: "It was pleasing for myself and my
management team that they acquitted themselves extremely well and never looked
out of place at this standard. When you work with no budget you are
reliant on bringing youngsters through. If these players continue then it
should make a brighter future for Slade Green Football Club."
