Bowey returns to familiar surroundings

VETERAN goal-machine Dean Bowey has once again, linked up for what will be his fourth spell at Go Travel Kent League Slade Green, writes Stephen McCartney.

The prolific striker has re-joined The Small Glen outfit from last season's Kent League champions Cray Wanderers - who will be playing Ryman League football this season in the first division.

He is one of six new signings at the club, as they try to improve on last season's poor league position.

Highly-rated former Dartford striker, Chris Arnold has joined the club from local rivals VCD Athletic with Danny Little and striker Chris Tuley having made the switch from neighbours Erith Town and Thamesmead Town respectively.

Slade Green have also confirmed that Tony Gallagher and Wayne Barrett have re-joined the club from Paul Blade's Thamesmead.

Barrett returns to the club following a five-year absence having originally signed in 1997 by former boss Micky Watts from local club Samuel Montague.

For Gallagher, however, it will also be his second spell with the club, having left to link up with Thamesmead last September.  Both players were influential helping the Bayliss Avenue club  land the Kent League Cup at the end of last season, when Marc Merridan's first half strike settled the final against Cray Wanderers in Folkestone.
