Paul McCarthy, who recently returned to The Small Glen from Dr Martens League Eastern Division side, Chatham Town, scored a hat-trick as Phil Miles' side ravaged Lordswood on Saturday.

Slade Green took the lead in the 21st minute when a bad clearance from Lordswood's Michael Dodsworth went straight to Shaun Malyon whose cross into the area was chested down by Tony Weir before he volleyed past Paul Piggott scoring from six yards.

Lordswood should have equalised early in the second half when Dodsworth's free kick wide on the left was hit into the near post where Phil Pearson.  His shot, however was blocked by goalkeeper's Paul Vines' legs.

Three minutes later, Slade Green doubled the score when McCarthy struck an unstoppable 22 yard shot which flew into the net.

Shortly after, McCarthy picked the ball up, ran at the Lordswood back line before unleashing a 20 yard shot to make the score 3-0.

The home side continued to attack and were rewarded in the 80th minute when Malyon was fouled by Kevin Thorburn inside the penalty area and McCarthy fired the resulting spot kick into the left hand corner of Piggott's net to give him a deserved hat-trick.
