Deal scouting for local talent

Deal Town's reserve team manager Sean Bennett praised scout Jimmy Gibbons, for his efforts spotting local talent, writes Stephen McCartney.

Gibbons has been involved managing and running local side Tilmanstone Ravens for the time Bennett has known him (around nine years), as well as having a stint managing Woodnesborough's side in the Thanet Saturday League three years ago.

"He has always been on the end of a phone for me looking out for any players that he thinks could cut it in the Kent League," Bennett told the club's website.

"Half the battle if finding them - the other part is persuading them to play.

"His judgement is one I value, with players like Ben Laslett, keeper Sammy Gibbons, Billy Knight and Matt Stroud all playing at the Ravens over the past few years.

"It's hard to have eyes everywhere, and his are firmly on the Dover Sunday League for me."
