Beckenham striker sails to Erith
ERITH TOWN have signed striker Steve Shippey from Go Travel Kent
League rivals Beckenham Town, writes Stephen McCartney.
The highly-rated striker scored 15 goals for the first team and a further 22
goals for the reserve side at the Eden Park Avenue outfit last season.
He will make his Dockers debut on Saturday when Willie O'Sullivan takes his side
to Whitstable Town.
Erith Town progressed through the preliminary round of the FA Cup for only the
second time in their history, defeating Steyning Town 5-3 at the Erith Stadium
last Saturday.
The Dockers fell behind as early as the second minute but four goals in quick succession
in the second half put paid to the Sussex County League Division Two side's cup
dreams.
Erith's goalscorers were Danny Hogarth (2), Glenn McTaggart (2) and Paul Voiler,
his first competitive senior strike for the club.
Erith Town now travel to Sussex side Ringmer in the first qualifying round on
Saturday 18th September.
