Goals from Paul Jones and Stuart Myall gave Folkestone Invicta a comfortable Kent Senior Cup victory in Tuesday night’s First Round tie away to Tonbridge Angels at the Longmead Stadium, writes Richard Murrill.

Jones opened the scoring after 26 minutes with an untidy goal when he smashed the ball into the net from close range after goalkeeper Jerome John had failed to collect when under pressure from visiting central defenders Adam Flanagan and John Guest after one-time Invicta left back Richard Ponsford had skyed the ball.

And Myall made it 2-0 after 58 minutes when he slotted the ball home when Micheal Everitt played a low through ball to him in a good passing move started by captain Scott Lindsey.

Invicta welcomed defender Kevin Watson back into the starting line up in place of the unwell Steve Norman and the visitors were close after nine minutes when goalkeeper John back-peddled to touch over a Micheal Everitt shot when a low ball from Paul Lamb set up the chance.

Jones's goal put Invicta in the driving seat and the striker shot at John after 33 minutes when a great crossfield ball from James Everitt sent him clear.

Loui Fazackerly shot just wide for Tonbridge from the right hand side after 34 minutes on a night when Invicta goalkeeper Tony Kessell did not have to make a noteworthy save.

Myall shot over from the edge of the penalty area for Invicta after 50 minutes when Tonbridge defender Lew Watts cleared following a spell of pressure from the Folkestone side.

Tonbridge were reduced to ten men after 76 minutes when Jay May received a straight red card for an elbow on Guest down the left hand side.

Invicta were close again after 89 minutes when John made a double save to first deny substitute Joe Neilson and then James Dryden in a move started by Lindsey.
