Angels dig deep to bid for striker

TONBRIDGE Angels chairman Paul Dainty has confirmed the Ryman League Premier Division club have made a cash bid for a forward which the club have admired for sometime, writes Stephen McCartney.

However, the Longmead Stadium chairman, has kept quiet about the identity of the player, but he told the club's website: "After discussions with Tony (Dolby), we have made a substantial bid for a proven goalscorer.

"Our offer is being considered currently.  We have had to dig very deep to find the cash to make this offer but we want to show our intent to our supporters as we believe that a signing of such a player is vital to our success.

"Should we prove unsuccessful in this bid, we will still allow Tony to look at alternatives.

"I really hope we can finalise this deal as this would be a fantastic signing for the club."

Meanwhile, right-sided midfielder Gareth Street has joined the Angels.
