Tonbridge prepare for big Essex test

TONBRIDGE ANGELS' player manager Tony Dolby has admitted Billericay Town would prove a "big test" for his Angels squad.

The Essex side sit top of the Ryman League Premier Division, and Dolby expects a very difficult afternoon.

Billericay striker Danny Hockton's brace saw them beat Kent rivals Dover Athletic 2-0 in midweek.

Speaking to the club's website, Dolby said: "The spirit in the squad is first class and we felt we had a point to prove against Northwood.

"I was pleased with most aspects of the game and we are still looking to improve our overall game.

"We go to Billericay with confidence but they will be on a high as they have won both their first two games."

Dolby revealed details of his current squad, adding: "Unfortunately John Beales is unavailable, John Farley is struggling with a thigh strain and Dave Powell will be out for a few weeks with a pulled calf strain.

"Therefore we will have to make changes from the side that started at Northwood, but I am still confident that we can take something back from Billericay."

Meanwhile, off the pitch, the Longmead Stadium outfit are hopeful of making a sponsorship announcement next Monday.

Negotiations are still taking place but it is hoped that an agreement can be reached when chairman Paul Dainty, finance directory Robin Apps and commercial manager Chris MacDonald meet on Monday.
