Sittingbourne snap up two

Michael Smissen has signed for Dr Martens League Eastern Division club Sittingbourne for the rest of the season.

Smissen has made quite an impression since joining 'Bourne on-loan from Premier Division neighbours Dover Athletic, scoring a number of goals and becoming a popular figure amongst supporters.

Sittingbourne have also signed forward David Cory from Ryman League Division One South side Walton & Hersham and manager Mark Beeney is also talking to another forward and a midfield player.

Cory is a front-runner who first played for Margate as a 16-year-old. He made his senior debut for Walton & Hersham in October 1999, becoming a regular for the promotion-winning reserve side for whom he finished overall leading scorer in the Suburban League, averaging over a goal a game.

He established a first-team spot three seasons ago, ending that campaign as leading scorer and being named payer of the year by both supporters and players.

He left in the summer of 2002 for Hampton & Richmond Borough after scoring 29 goals in 98 appearances, returning to Stompond Lane the following January.

Meanwhile, Bradley Spice has been advised by specialists that he should not play again until his injury has been investigated further. This is likely to mean a lengthy absence possibly even that he will miss the rest of the season.
