Folkestone kept in the dark |
Tonight's
Ryman Premier League game between Folkestone Invicta and Billericay Town
was abandoned due to a floodlight failure at the Buzzlines Stadium in
Cheriton Road, writes Mike Green. With the score standing at 0-0 after 34 minutes, play was held up for 16 minutes before five further minutes were played before the lights went out again. Invicta manager, Neil Cugley was looking for his side to bounce back from their opening day 4-1 defeat at AFC Wimbledon. "After the disappointment of Saturday's drubbing we were looking forward for our first win tonight," he said. "For the opening half hour before the floodlights went out the first time it was a marked improvement. "I'm obviously disappointed for the fans for coming out on a wet Monday night." Overall, for those who braved the pouring rain on this first Monday night football experiment at the Buzzlines would have left disappointed. But Folkestone get another crack of their first win of the season when Leyton visit on Saturday - good job it's not dark before 5pm!! |
