New Deres' boss Lakin meets the fans

ERITH & Belvedere supporters will have an early chance to get to know their new manager, when Barry Lakin holds a Meet the Manager event at their clubhouse in Park View Road, Welling on Saturday 24th July, writes Stephen McCartney.

The former Leyton Orient player and Chelmsford City coach, not to mention assistant coach of Cape Cod Crusaders in the United States, took over the Deres' reins from Kevin Hales last month following Hales' departure to Hornchurch, and is looking forward to a successful campaign with the club in the reconstituted Southern League Division One East.

Lakin, who regularly speaks to the club's supporters on the club's internet message board, is willing to speak face-to-face to them in an open to question session following the club's first pre-season friendly at Park View Road against St Albans City on Saturday 24th July.

Members of the Dere's board of directors will also be on hand, offering supporters the chance to air all their views and ideas for the club's future.

Meanwhile, Erith & Belvedere have announced seven pre-season friendlies.

After hosting St Albans City on Saturday 24th July they host Ryman (Isthmian) League Premier Division newcomers Tonbridge Angels at Park View Road on Tuesday 27th July before finishing the month with a trip to Go Travel Kent League outfit VCD Athletic on Saturday 31st July.

A trip to another Kent League outfit, Slade Green follows (Tuesday 3rd August) before Margate are the visitors to Park View Road two days later.

Lakin takes his side to Hayes Lane to face Ryman League Division One outfit Bromley on Saturday 7th August before they make the very short trip to neighbours Erith Town two days later.  The league season, commences on Saturday 14th August,

Finally, on the 31st July, the Deres' clubhouse at Park View Road will be host to a Hawaiian theme night. The evening will commence around 7:30pm. Fancy dress (Hawaiian shirts and grass skirts) is very much encouraged. Admission is £3 including a barbecue.
