Lakin appointed new boss at Erith & Belvedere

BARRY LAKIN became Erith & Belvedere's fourth manager in only six months today when he was appointed the new manager of the Park View Road club, writes Stephen McCartney.

He replaces Kevin Hales, the former Chelsea and Orient player, who left the club at the end of last week, after the lure to become assistant manager of Conference South outfit was impossible to turn down.

The Essex side, who have gained a reputation of being big-spenders in the non-league game, are managed by former Dagenham & Redbridge boss Garry Hill.

Lakin, who was Hales' assistant, follows Mike Acland, Micky Cloke and Hales in the manager's chair at the Southern League Division One East club, and has appointed Wayne Brown as his number two.
