Dartford bounce back by thrashing Dockers

Following their 2-1 defeat at Tilbury, Dartford bounced back to beat their Kent League neighbours, Erith Town 5-1 in front of a healthy crowd last night, writes Martin Challis.

Dartford were leading 1-0 at the interval through Dominic Elmes just after the start.

Erith, fresh from their 1-1 draw with Bromley at the weekend, rarely threatened and both sides were playing the ball about, keeping long balls to the minimum.

However, the new offside rule was completely throwing everybody, prompting much discussion amongst the supporters.

Dartford started the second half as they did the first, with a well taken second goal for Elmes.

Half time substitute, Jimmy Carter, gave the Darts a much better shape up front, and scored two well taken headers and youngster Craig Maguire weighed in with a blasted goal from close range.

Richard Avery was very impressive at the back for the Southern League visitors.
