Sampson: Missed chances cost us victory at Fleet
Missed chances denied Dartford victory in their 0-0 draw at
Fleet Town in the Dr Martens League Eastern Division on Saturday, writes
Stephen McCartney.
Speaking on Sunday lunchtime, Dartford manager, Tommy Sampson
said: "We played very well and probably missed five or six good chances. The
one problem I've got at Dartford this season is we are not scoring. We seem
to only score in midweek but we deserved to win the game, so three points
becomes one. I was disappointed with the result, against a competitive Fleet
side on a bumpy pitch.
Dartford forget about the pressures of league football and can
concentrate on two cup matches at Stonbridge Road.
Burgess Hill Town visit on Wednesday in the League Cup and
Ashford Town (Middlesex) visit next Sunday in the first round of the FA
Trophy.
Sampson said: "We've beaten Burgess Hill Town twice this season
and I am taking this game very seriously and hoping we go through."
Ashford Town (Middlesex), however, will pose a different style
of football as they play in the Ryman League Division One South. They can be
classed as draw specialists as they have drawn seven of their fourteen league
games so far.
Sampson had Ashford Town (Middlesex) watched when they lost 5-1
at Windsor & Eton and will be giving them another look when they travel to
Leighton Town in the first round of the Bryco Cup next Tuesday.
"We will have Ashford Town (Middlesex) watched twice before we
play them in the FA Trophy next Sunday. The financial rewards and winning
will be important to us.", admitted Sampson.
