Both jobs up for grabs at Stonebridge Road

THE two clubs that play at Stonebridge Road are now searching for new managers following the resignations of Andy Ford and Tommy Sampson, writes Stephen McCartney.

Ford resigned as manager of Nationwide Conference side Gravesend & Northfleet following their 1-0 home defeat to Stevenage Borough in the GLS Cup on Tuesday night and Dartford boss Sampson left following a board meeting on Monday.

Fleet skipper Steve McKimm and experienced professional Paul McCarthy will take charge of team affairs following Ford's departure.

Chairman Brian Kilcullen commented: "Andy was with the club for a long time and will be a very hard man to replace.

"Hence, the appointment of his successor will be a crucial decision in shaping how the club progresses from here and is not a decision we will rush into.

"In the meantime, we are more than happy to let Steve and Paul take charge of team matters.

"They have the necessary experience and leadership qualities."

Meanwhile, Darts chairman Dave Skinner added: "At a board meeting on Monday, Dartford Football Club reluctantly accepted the resignation of the club manager Tommy Sampson.

"This was prompted by a combination of recent results, and the fact that he feels he has taken the club as far as he is able.

"Dartford Football Club would like to place on record its immense gratitude for all the efforts that he has contributed over the last three years, both on and off the field.

"A director, Tony Burman, will assume team affairs for the immediate future, until a permanent appointment can be made."
